1942 Banner J-45 同様歴史に名を遺す名器の一つ
その名の通り1934年に発売されたギブソン ラウンドショルダーの一号機で、その後のJ-45やJ-35、サザンジャンボやアドバンストジャンボの始祖といわれるモデルです。
Legendシリーズから始まった、当時の接着方法、ハイドグルー(にかわ)を用いた組み込みや、極限のエイジングを施したレッドスプルースを使用するなど、手抜きの存在しないハンドメイドの時代の工法をリスペクトし、現代に蘇らせた名器です。
635mmのスケールとラウンドショルダーの組み合わせはマーティンなどとは異なり、心地よいルーズなサウンドを生み出します。ヴィンテージに至っては金額もさることながら、コンディションの良いものに出会うことは至難です。コレクターズアイテム的な存在のJumboですが、まちがいなく第一線で活躍する逸品です。
