Product Description

Ka Laiは、1940から1946までJohnny Lai氏が晩と週末にKamaka工場で製作し、ブランド名を「 Kamaka 」と「 Lai 」をあわせて「 Ka - Lai 」と付けた、とのことです。しかし、実際には普通にkamakaで製作していたらしいとも言われています。
この楽器は、見るからに1920年代の初期kamakaの作りで、ラベルのパテントナンバーもkamakaのものです。完全なハンドメイドの時期で、形状も微妙にいびつで、楽器としての完成度はまだまだな感じです。
材質はモンキーポットと言われていますが、トップ、サイドの木目はハワイアンコアウッドのようにも見えます。
民芸品的な味わいの楽器で、テンションの強い弦でレギュラーチューニングは厳しいですので、やや低くチューニングするか、細い弦を使うほうが良いと思います。
上記のようにそれなりに難はありますが、雰囲気のある暖かい音色は、癒されるサウンドです。当時のハードケース付きです。
