本器は、2004年製のModel 5 Mandolaの極上USED品。。

スティーブ・ギルクリストは1970年代にナッシュビルの老舗楽器店グルーンギターでリペアを担当していた、現在オーストラリア在住のアーチトップ&マンドリン製作家です。マンドリニストやコレクターから絶大な支持を得ており、サウンドはもちろん、グラマラスなアーチや美しいフィニッシュなど、仕上がりは芸術の域に達します。人気の製作家故、マンドリン市場には常に枯渇状態、高額なプライスも納得です。とくにマンドラは滅多に出てきません。マンドリンとは一味違う、おおらかでダイナミックなサウンドに魅了されるプレイヤーは多いです。

クラシックスタイルのマンドラは通常のマンドリンチューニング（G,D,A,E）の1オクターブ下ですが、本器のようなアメリカンスタイルでは、主に5度下（C,G,D,A）となります。
マンドリンと異なり、音程が非常にギターに近く、独特の深みのある低音弦を効かせてのストロークのような弾き語りに使っても面白そうです。アコースティックなアンサンブル、弾き語り、ソロ、使い方は自由自在、可能性しか感じない、魅力的な楽器です。

目立つ傷は殆ど見当たらない新品のようなコンディションでの入荷、ケースはレアな角型のカールトンケースが付属しており、保管や持ち運びも安心です。
