1902年より生産され、1943年に生産が中止された000-42。スタンダード・シリーズとして復刻されたのは2004年。その間に起きたギターファンにとっての衝撃的な出来事と言えば、1992年に放送されたエリック・クラプトンの「MTV アンプラグド」だろう。この放送で使用していた1939年製の000-42が世界中のギターファンを虜にしたのだ。1995年に発売された000-42EC以降、その人気は衰えることを知らない。
本器は往年のマーティンファンの声と現代のニーズに応えるべく進化した最新版、000-42 Standard。
