A 1980s TOKAI TE200 "Original String Bender Model" has arrived! An extremely rare Telecaster model featuring a TOKAI-made string bender!
This rare model features the original "String Bender" developed by guitarists Clarence White and Gene Parsons to recreate pedal steel guitar country licks on an electric guitar.
The String Bender mechanism replicates the pedal steel guitar's string-bending action—performed with the knee or pedal—on a solid-body guitar. It packages a system where the front strap pin moves up and down via a strap, allowing the 2nd string to be bent at the bridge.
This particular instrument entered our inventory. It was produced in limited numbers in the early 80s. Considering it's a Japan vintage piece over 40 years old, it maintains an excellent clean condition! The contents are also original with no modifications. It comes complete with the original case candy: the hang tag, warranty card, and the String Bender instruction manual that came with it new.
