Product Description
A 1970s Ampeg "V-4 Head" has arrived! A 1970s Ampeg V-4 guitar amp head from the silver-panel era! The "Ampeg V-4," beloved by many rock musicians in the 70s!
It gained instant fame when used alongside the company's "Lucite Guitars" during The Rolling Stones' US tour. This newly arrived unit is the guitar-specific "V-4" head, released around 1969! It's a 100W output unit using a quartet of 6L6 power tubes.
This particular unit is from around 1977. The first channel features volume and a "Distortion" control for gain adjustment. The second channel includes volume, bass, and a middle control with a sub-switch for selecting frequency bands. It also has a bright switch, treble control, and a spring reverb control.
Externally, it shows some wear typical of its age, but overall it's in excellent condition! Internally, several capacitors were replaced during maintenance, but the main components are original.
The sound is clean yet drive-rich! While this might sound contradictory in writing, it delivers ample distortion while maintaining a core presence – a vintage Ampeg sound where each string is distinctly audible! Especially when plugging in a Stratocaster, the match is amazing: crisp and taut, yet blended with a richly harmonic drive sound!
