☆For information on mail-order purchases, please see the Shop Information section on our website☆ A 1974 Fender "Stratocaster Blond Finish with Rosewood Fingerboard" has arrived. This is a 1974 Stratocaster from the final production run of the so-called "early '70s" models

Starting in 1965, the new owner, CBS, gradually made specification changes. By the late 1974 model year, ash wood was adopted for the body—a change that had already been implemented for colored models—even for the Sunburst finish.
Additionally, the pickups were changed from the "staggered pole piece" design—which had varying heights to account for the different frequencies of each string—to a "flat pole piece" design where all pole pieces are set at the same height. This particular Stratocaster is a late-model 1974 Stratocaster featuring the staggered pole piece pickup specification.

The finish is the traditional "Blonde Finish," a Special Color that has been used since the 1950s! The top and back of the body feature a See-Through White finish that highlights the distinctive grain of the ash wood, while the sides are solid-painted, creating a finish known as "White Burst."

The neck features a rosewood fingerboard, a configuration that was produced in limited numbers during this period. Visually, the clear topcoat typical of this era has yellowed over time, and while there is some wear and weather checking from actual playing, it remains in excellent condition for a vintage instrument!

Internally, the frets and nut have been replaced, and it’s in great playing condition. The parts—including the pickups, assembly, and major hardware—are original, though the tremolo arm has been replaced. For an ash-body Stratocaster from this era, it’s lightweight, and the sound combines the crisp tone of ash with the rich tone of the rosewood fingerboard!
