A 2006 Gibson Custom Shop R57 Les Paul STD Modified "Dave Johnson For DMC Special" has arrived in stock


Based on the Historic Collection "R7," this fully modified Les Paul Standard
, featuring special modifications as the "DMC Special," resulting in a fully modified
Les Paul Standard

This particular model is a recreation of the original 1957 Les Paul Standard that was cherished for many years by British guitarist "Snowy White," known for his collaborations with Pink Floyd, Thin Lizzy, Roger Waters, and others

To recreate authentic weather checking, the guitar has been fully repainted with a lacquer specially blended by Dave Johnson,
and has undergone a long-term "natural aging" process.

The fingerboard has been replaced with rosewood featuring a vintage-style color, and at the same time, a non-tube truss rod has been installed;
the fingerboard inlays also use vintage cellulose.
The headstock veneer has also been replaced from the maple typically used on Hiscore guitars of that era to "Hollywood" maple, matching the vintage model. At the same time, the headstock logo has been changed to a pearl inlay logo in the 1950s style, positioned slightly lower as it was in 1957,
and installed using the same method as on vintage models.
In addition, modifications such as the relocation of the tailpiece and detailed aging treatments have been applied as part of the "DMC Special" specification.

His modifications require a significant amount of time to complete, but he has developed a unique method to recreate the aging changes that occur over decades in an original vintage instrument within just a few years. He handles the entire process himself, including woodworking, finishing, and aging.

This approach—"to achieve a reproduction that closely resembles the original, one must replicate the original’s manufacturing methods"—is the same approach we have taken with our "DMC Reproduct Parts." While the work requires significant time and effort, it guarantees a more authentic finish.

Of course, the guitar is fully equipped with "DMC Reproduct Parts"!
For this series, we’ve specially crafted parts featuring an even more labor-intensive “special aging” process,
further enhancing the aging quality of the guitar body.

As for the crucial sound, the difference from a standard model is clearly noticeable. For those who find standard Historic models lacking,
this one-of-a-kind Gold Top is the “best choice” in terms of appearance, sound, and value!
