コンポーネントギターの先駆けとして1970年代にカリフォルニアで生まれた"Valley Arts(ヴァレイアーツ)"。"Mike McGuire(マイク・マグワイア)"と"Al Carness(アル・カーネス)"の2人によって創業され、"ラリー・カールトン"や"スティーブ・ルカサー"、日本では"渡辺香津美"など名だたる実力派ギタリストによってその名を轟かせました。本器は小振りなシングルカットソリッドボディスタイルの"Custom Pro T"、トップに見事なキルトメイプルをあしらった1本、1993年製。上品なバーズアイメイプルネック、ローズウッド指板、キルテッドメイプルトップ＆アルダーバックボディ、Seymour Duncan"JB"×2搭載。コントロールは1Vol、1Tone、3Wayとシンプルながら、現在はデフォルトでフロントコイルタップの配線。トーンのスイッチPOTをプルで両方がハムバッカーの配線になっております。高出力な"JB"らしくコイルタップ時の艶やかさがしっかりとキープされ、コイルタップとハムバッカーの切り替えも自然にシームレスなため前述の配線も納得。均整のとれた各ポジションのレスポンス、明瞭ながら冷たさを感じさせないアタックと心地よく伸びるサスティーン。美しいクリーントーンに加えエフェクトの乗りも良く、分離感のしっかりしたドライブサウンドもお手の物です。小振りなボディデザインでパッと手に取りやすく、いつでもカジュアルに楽しませてくれるフットワークの軽さを持ちつつも、ふと構えた際の全体のバランスが良く、サウンドにおいても確かなクオリティをもって答えてくれる高い完成度。全体の細かなウェザーチェッキング、ボディバックには小傷や打痕も相応にありますが、顕著に外観を損ねるものはなく演奏性をしっかりとキープした本器。ロッドの調整を含め良好なネックコンディション。フレットも80％以上の弾きやすい高さを保持して綺麗な状態です。ハイエンドコンポーネントの確かな完成度を感じさせてくれる1本。ぜひお確かめください。ハードケース付属。
