[Maker Information]

Born in 1953, the maker maintains his workshop in Frankenhardt, Germany. Deeply devoted to the traditional Spanish guitar, he traveled to Granada, Spain, to study guitar making, where he frequently visited the workshops of renowned makers such as Marín and Ferrer, broadening his knowledge and experience. He later worked for the German guitar manufacturer Höfner for a period of time, where he also earned the title of Master Craftsman (Meister).

He established his own workshop after becoming independent in the 1980s, and by the 1990s his name had become increasingly well known throughout Europe. His international reputation grew dramatically when guitarist Joseph Eötvös used one of his guitars for his recording of the complete Goldberg Variations, arranged for guitar.

According to the maker, he is particularly meticulous about the selection of tonewoods, choosing only wood that has been aged for more than 40 years. All joints are glued using traditional hide glue, and all of his instruments are finished in shellac.

His guitars combine the vivid, clear, and open sound of the Spanish guitar with a refined classical elegance. The resulting tone is rare in its ability to unite romantic warmth with exceptional clarity and transparency.

This guitar was made in 2008 and has a 650 mm scale length.

It achieves an exceptional balance between a light playing touch and a rich, brilliant sound. The response is extremely quick, reacting sensitively to subtle nuances while providing ample headroom. The harmonic response is remarkably rich, creating the impression of multiple layers of sound, while the volume is generous and the overall balance is excellent. The characteristic sound of Lummich—combining “romantic warmth and clarity”—is fully realized in this instrument.

The guitar features a shellac finish and is fitted with Sloane tuners. The neck has a standard thickness and remains in excellent condition, with virtually no fret wear. The string height is set at 2.8 mm on the first string and 3.8 mm on the sixth, providing a soft string tension, a wide range of tonal expression, and comfortable playability.

Approximately 16 years have passed since the instrument was made. Overall, it remains in good condition. There are a few minor dents near the neck joint on the treble side of the soundboard, as well as two relatively noticeable scratches on the bottom. The back has undergone a patch repair, which has been properly carried out. The finish remains in good condition, and none of these issues affect playability.
