We’ve just received a 1982 Gibson “Moderne Heritage Korina ‘Early Issue with A-Serial Number’”
We’ve managed to track down a “Korina Moderne”—one of the Korina Trio models from the Heritage Series released in the early ’80s.
This series re-created the Flying V and Explorer—known as the “Modernistic Models,” which were produced in limited quantities in the late ’50s— were reproduced using Korina wood, just as they were back then. Although design drawings existed for this “Moderne,” it was never actually produced and remained a “phantom guitar” for Gibson—until now, when it has been produced for the first time as part of the Heritage Series based on the original patent drawings
This particular guitar, while showing some minor wear, is overall in excellent, clean condition!
It also features all-straight, fully original parts!
The Corina series was assigned serial numbers starting with letters for each production lot, beginning with “A” and ending with “H.” However, in the latter half of production—likely due to issues with wood pieces or knots—many models were produced with solid white or black finishes.
This particular guitar is from the early “A” serial production run and has a relatively low serial number.
True to Corina wood from this era, it is lightweight despite its shape. This weight contributes to its sound—it features a rich midrange and the clear, penetrating tone characteristic of Corina.
It was previously owned by Rick Nielsen, guitarist for Cheap Trick and a renowned vintage guitar collector, and his signature is inscribed on the back panel.
Comes with the original Heritage Brown hard case.
