Product Description
A 1961 Epiphone "Crestwood Custom" has arrived
In 1957, Epiphone became a subsidiary of Gibson and began production as one of the brands manufactured at the Gibson Kalamazoo Factory. While the lineup included models改良 from existing Gibson models, Epiphone’s first series of solid-body guitars was released with original designs
The guitar we’ve just received is the “Crestwood Custom,” the top-of-the-line model in that solid-body series!
It’s an early 1961 model, featuring the original specifications with a 3x3 tuner headstock
It is equipped with two Epiphone-exclusive mini humbuckers. The body and neck are made of Honduran mahogany, and the fingerboard is rosewood (Hacalanda). Featuring a bold double cutaway body, this model is positioned as the equivalent of the Gibson SG series.
The original finish was white, and the guitar has since been refinished in the same color.
There is no repair history on the neck or heel, and photos from before the refinish are still available.
It is equipped with two early-model mini humbuckers bearing the original “Patent Applied For” decals,
and features Epiphone’s proprietary tremolo unit, the “Toremoro Tone.”
Wear-and-tear parts such as pots and capacitors have been replaced.
The sound delivers the unique, mellow yet crisp tone characteristic of early mini humbuckers.
While the original version of this model is a rarity even on the vintage market, this refinished example is a vintage Epiphone that we highly recommend players try out!
