A 1984 Marshall "JCM800 2203 & 1960A" has arrived in stock
The "JCM800" series was introduced to the market as a new model in 1981
The unit we’ve just received is the “Model 2203,” a Super Lead head with a master volume control, manufactured in 1984.
It is the most popular model within the JCM800 lineup.
It offers heavier distortion than the “JMP” models from the late ’70s, and a It features a more refined and beautiful overdrive sound, and with the guitar’s volume control, it can handle everything from clean to crunch. When you’re handed just a guitar and a cable, I find the “JCM800” to be the easiest to use.
Of course, if you have a good-sounding booster, it’ll also deliver great sound for solos.
Although its reputation has improved slightly in recent years, it’s still one of the most underrated amps out there.
Simplicity is the secret to great sound.
This head is equipped with “6550” power tubes, which were used in both U.S. and Japanese models, delivering a Marshall sound with even greater headroom.
The speaker cabinet is a “1960A” from the same era, equipped with four original Celestion “G-12-80” speakers.
