Martin / 2000 000-28EC - The Eric Clapton signature model, from a legendary guitarist In 1992, "MTV Unplugged" became a legend etched into music history. The acoustic sound Eric Clapton drew from his vintage Martin 000-42 on songs like "Layla" and "Tears in Heaven" sent shockwaves around the world and sparked a global reevaluation of the acoustic guitar. Riding that wave of enthusiasm, this Martin 000-28EC was officially released as a signature model in 1996. - A body based on the 000 size The top uses Sitka spruce finished in an amber-toned lacquer. Along with ivoroid binding, herringbone purfling gives it a classic look. - Rosette The soundhole is trimmed with a black/cream multicolor and herringbone rosette. The pickguard uses a teardrop-shaped tortoiseshell pattern. - Sides/Back Beautiful quartersawn Indian rosewood, with a zigzag pattern on the center strip that evokes the feel of a pre-war 000-28. Binding matches the top in ivoroid. - Fingerboard/Bridge The fingerboard has a 44mm nut width and is made of ebony. Position markers use diamond-square inlay, with Eric Clapton's signature at the 20th fret. The bridge is fitted with a short saddle. - V-shaped neck The V-shaped neck may be the defining feature of the Clapton model. It's a shape that divides opinion, but it's a feel you can only get from this guitar, and it's one of the reasons behind its bright yet well-balanced sound. - Headstock The gloss-finished headstock carries Martin's old-style logo. - Tuning machines The tuners are Martin-stamped open-back tuners.
