Ovation / 1979 Super Adamas 1687-2<br><br>"How can a body be made to vibrate as efficiently, and as fully, as possible?" Adamas is the answer that emerged from pouring every bit of cutting-edge technology into that question, without compromise.<br><br>The pursuit of durability and acoustic performance that goes beyond the physical limits of wood as a natural material led to an innovative top structure: an ultra-thin, precisely layered combination of carbon graphite and birch. Fused with the brand's own fan bracing and a Lyrachord body designed around acoustic engineering principles, it established an entirely new sonic world that overturns the traditional idea of the wooden acoustic guitar.<br><br>This particular example is a Super Adamas 1687-2, one of the earliest examples built in 1979. The deep crimson body top is scattered with gleaming gold flecks, giving it an overwhelming presence that sets it apart from any other guitar at a single glance.<br><br>While Adamas is best known for the strong impression left by its technical innovation, you can also feel traditional beauty in details like the engraved headstock and the epaulettes modeled after acanthus leaves.<br><br>The deep Lyrachord body produces a powerful low end from its depths, with vibration driving straight forward, while the glass-clear highs fill the space with a well-defined outline. The distinctive attack of the carbon graphite top is a one-of-a-kind experience you simply can't get from a traditional wood guitar.<br><br>A supreme instrument that overturned the traditions of the acoustic guitar and shines brilliantly in its history.
