A full-size dreadnought is tiring to hold for long stretches, but the thin, boxy sound of most travel or mini guitars just doesn't satisfy. If you've wanted a genuine Martin you could relax with on the couch at home and still take out to a gig, this dilemma between size and tone will sound familiar.
It's a struggle a lot of acoustic guitar lovers know well - reaching for a mini guitar for convenience, only to feel let down by weak low end and unstable pitch. Getting to enjoy that rich Martin tone you love, more casually and anywhere you want, would be ideal.
The Martin DJr-E (Dreadnought Junior) is exactly that ideal made real. Far from just being a "small guitar," it's a genuine scaled-down version of Martin's traditional dreadnought at an elegant 15/16 size.
This guitar delivers a resonance that's hard to believe given its size.

A solid Sitka spruce top with solid sapele back and sides - not laminate, as is common in compact guitars at this price point - giving it rich overtones and depth that only solid wood can produce.

- A ready-to-perform Fishman pickup
Comes standard with a Fishman Sonitone pickup. Plug into an amp and it's immediately ready for the stage or the studio without losing the nuance of its natural tone.
The powerful, chest-thumping low end and rich volume this particular era offers are simply unmatched, which is why well-preserved examples become hard to find quickly on the used market.
