[Profile]
Born in 1947 in Hitachi City, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan, he began building guitars in his teens. In 1964, at the age of 17, he entered the workshop of Tsunesaburo Kurosawa as an apprentice. After gaining experience, he established his own workshop in Tokorozawa in 1969. Since then, drawing on the results of his early and devoted study of the guitars of Hermann Hauser I, he has consistently produced instruments with outstanding acoustic balance.

He was also among the first Japanese makers to venture into the construction of electric nylon-string guitars. Owing to his exceptional craftsmanship, he has received numerous requests from the steel-string acoustic guitar field as well, and although produced in small numbers, these models are also of high quality. Nevertheless, it is without question his Hauser-style models that most clearly express his aesthetics and identity as a maker. The beauty of the workmanship, the lustrous tone, and the superb acoustic balance are maintained at a consistently high level in every instrument, fully living up to the Hauser name. The tonewoods selected are likewise of an excellent grade for this price range. In terms of overall value for money, this brand can be regarded as one of the finest among Japanese makers.

The Hauser model, a long-standing standard in the Shunpei Nishino lineup, has been revised in price and is now designated as Model No. 40, replacing the former No. 35.

This brand-new 2026 model features a 630mm scale length, a spruce top, and Indian rosewood back and sides.

Crafted by a veteran luthier with nearly 60 years of experience, this guitar reflects the consistently high level of quality for which the brand is known. The instrument shows a deep respect for the tonal and structural principles of the Hauser tradition, while its overall design retains a distinctive sense of originality.

The well-balanced tonal response and excellent playability make it suitable for a wide range of players, from beginners to intermediate-level guitarists. Its tone is slightly firm and focused, yet clear and refined, with a fresh and lively character. Notes are well defined and evenly articulated, while the quick response and excellent balance across chords contribute to a highly comfortable playing experience. Intonation is also remarkably accurate.

The carefully selected tonewoods are of notably high quality, making the Model No. 40 an exceptional value for its price.
