Terada / 1970s FW-504
An extremely rare model from the 1970s Japanese-vintage market, rarely seen even among specialists - the Terada FW-504.
Perhaps inspired by the legendary Gibson Dove, it features an elegant square-shoulder body with sides and back generously built from maple.
Unlike the mahogany or rosewood typically used for acoustic guitars, maple provides a clear, crisp treble and superb note articulation. It has a dynamic, loud voice while remaining strikingly bright and never muddy.
Terada Musical Instrument Mfg., the storied manufacturer that quietly supported many famous brands behind the scenes in its day, put its own name proudly on the headstock of this instrument, built with full pride under its own brand. Considering how many other brands this company would go on to supply, seeing ‘Terada’ stamped directly on the headstock gives this guitar a charming, endearing quality unique to vintage instruments.
