1942年より、J-35の後継機種として発売され、今やギブソンのトレードマークともなったJ-45。
1960年代後半のわずかな期間しか生産されなかったエボニーブラックフィニッシュは、カスタムショップ製として、復刻版が発売され、現在ではヴィンテージスペックを再現する「Original Collection」としてレギュラーラインナップされています。
本器はカスタムショップ製 1960s J-45 Ebony ADJ VOS2014年製のUSED品。

ブラックボディ＆ホワイトピックガードのコントラストは、サンバーストフィニッシュの同機種とは全く異なる雰囲気を放っております。1968年頃に実際に存在したレアカラーとなっており、兼ねてからヴィンテージ市場では注目のモデルでしたが、日本においては斉藤和義氏の使用でも広く認知され始めました。
ギブソンならではの力強くパーカッシブなアタック感と、ギブソンらしい温かみのある太い中低音域が秀逸な個体です。固いピックで弾いた時に”ジャリッ”と響く、歯切れの良いサウンドは、ギブソンでしか味わえない魅力でしょう。ここまで歌モノに特化した機種は無いかも知れません。
昨今のギブソンは多くのモデルでピックアップが標準装備の中、こちらは完全生仕様です。
薄いスレや所々の当てキズはございますが、経年を再現したVOSフィニッシュも相まって渋くこなれた外観になっております。演奏面のコンディションは良好で、使用感は少ない良い感じの一本です。
