Product Description

Epiphone 1968 FT-79 Texan

A long-scale Texan. This example was built at the Gibson Kalamazoo factory, and comes in the rare custom cherry finish.

[A Vivid Cherry Color]
The round-shoulder spruce top is finished in cherry red. Nearly 60 years on, this is a valuable example that has kept its red coloring clearly visible, suggesting it has been carefully stored over the years.

The small pickguard is secured with 4 screws and carries Epiphone's logo, taken from the brand's initial.

[Mahogany Sides/Back]
The sides and back use mahogany, finished in the same vivid cherry red as the top. The warm grain of the mahogany shows the quality of the wood used.

The rosewood fingerboard is fitted with the Texan's iconic parallelogram inlays.

The neck uses mahogany, with a narrow 40mm nut width typical of this era.

The bridge is a rosewood upper-belly bridge fitted with a ceramic adjustable saddle.

The headstock is decorated with Epiphone's classic logo and cloud inlay. The truss rod cover is secured with two screws and engraved with an "E" mark.

The tuners are 3-on-a-strip KLUSON DELUXE units - the same as used on the J-45.

While sunburst and natural colors remain the standard, ever-popular finishes, the rare cherry color is a genuinely hard one to come across on the market, and an example that has kept this much of its red coloring is even rarer and more sought-after. If you've been searching for one, this is well worth trying.
