1973 was an era in which Japanese luthiers weren't simply chasing the global standard - they were burning to create it themselves. The Yamaha FG-2000 was born in the middle of that excitement, crafted by a team of elite builders including the man who would later become a legend, Terry Nakamoto. This isn't just an old guitar - over half a century it has absorbed time, and the wood has matured into something close to a perfect instrument.

Visually, this guitar is on another level. The top is solid Ezo spruce that has aged into a beautiful amber hue over the decades. The real highlight is the back: a 3-piece construction of Brazilian rosewood and flame maple. The undulating grain of Brazilian rosewood - unthinkably lavish by today's standards - contrasts with a golden stripe of maple down the center, like a painting on the guitar's back.

Strum it once and you'll understand why this guitar is legendary. The crisp, fast attack characteristic of Ezo spruce is immediately followed by the deep, sinking low end that only Brazilian rosewood can produce. From glass-shard-like highs to gut-shaking lows, the range and richness of overtones is genuinely compelling, not just to the player but to everyone in the room.

This depth of resonance can't be achieved through specs alone - it comes from being played, vibrated, and cared for continuously from 1973 to today, letting every cell of the wood learn to resonate.

As a used/vintage instrument, this reflects our in-house inspection; being over 50 years old there are small marks and playing wear, but no major wood damage, showing it has been well cared for. Some celluloid binding re-glued near the fingerboard end/nut area.

String height at the 12th fret: 2.5mm (6th string), 2.0mm (1st string)
Saddle projection: approx. 2.0mm-2.5mm. No buzzing or note choking; plays well overall.
