Product Description
☆For information on mail-order purchases, please see the Shop Information section on our website☆
A 1973 Fender "Precision Bass" with the original Candy Apple Red finish has arrived in stock
A Precision Bass with the custom Candy Apple Red finish!
Fender gradually phased out custom colors starting in 1970, and by 1973, even the last remaining options—
this Candy Apple Red and Lake Placid Blue—were discontinued, bringing an end to the custom color finishes
that had been officially available for order since the early 1960s
This new arrival is a 1973 Precision Bass in Candy Apple Red with a rosewood fingerboard. As you can see from the above, 1970s custom colors are surprisingly rare on the market.
Externally, while there is some wear and weather checking typical of its age, it remains in excellent condition
for a vintage instrument!
The nut and frets have been replaced, and it’s in excellent playing condition.
Additionally, the tailpiece has been replaced, marks from the fingerrest relocation have been corrected, and on the back of the neck,
the original polyester topcoat was stripped and replaced with a lacquer finish to enhance playability.
The sound retains the vibe of the ’60s while delivering a crisp attack—a great tone unique to this era!
