Gibson 2002 J-185: a jumbo-style guitar with a 16-inch body.
Introduced as a slightly smaller 16-inch body alongside the 17-inch SJ-200 and J-200, the original J-185 was produced in only about 900 units, making it a rare model. This guitar is a reissue of the 1950s J-185 specs.
Back and sides are beautifully figured maple, a J-185 hallmark, with three-dimensional figure that shifts as the angle changes. Quartersawn spruce top. The body, one inch (2.54cm) smaller, is very comfortable to hold and play. Large tortoise-pattern pickguard and double-ring rosette.
Rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl double parallelogram inlays. One-piece mahogany neck with a slim neck shape for a comfortable grip. Rosewood upper-belly bridge with a short saddle and Maltese cross inlays on the sides, reproducing the original J-185. Small headstock with Gibson modern logo and crown inlay; 2-piece bell-shaped truss rod cover. KLUSON no-line tuners with gold housings and marbled keystone buttons.
Models reproducing the look and appointments of the J-185, produced for only about 8 years from 1951 to 1959, are popular on the market, and not just for their looks: the bright, fast response and dynamic lows make for a unique voice.

Minor scratches and dings, otherwise clean condition. Back bracing has been reglued.
[Playing Condition]
Action at the 12th fret: 2.7mm low E side, 2.0mm high E side. Saddle protrusion approximately 2.0-3.5mm. No choking or buzzing; playing condition is good.
