Product Description

Martin 1976 D-35 Shaded — a rare shaded-top vintage Martin combining a striking look with the warm, sweet tone the D-35 is known for, matured over 50 years.

Shaded (sunburst) tops were produced in very small numbers at Martin, and a 1970s D-35 Shaded rarely appears on the market at all. The vintage sunburst, beautifully faded over half a century, stands apart from the usual natural finishes. The D-35's signature three-piece rosewood back and dedicated bracing give an overall softer, fuller sound than the punchy attack of a D-28, with deep, enveloping lows and sweet highs that support a vocal without crowding it — an ideal accompaniment guitar for singer-songwriters.

Exactly 50 years since its 1976 build, the wood is thoroughly dried and aged. The sturdy non-scalloped X-braced construction of 1970s Martins makes it a tough, working guitar that can still serve as a main instrument on demanding live stages. 1970s Martins are now firmly established as true vintage and prices are rising rapidly worldwide; playable examples of this rare shaded D-35 are much sought after.

Pickguard replaced; tuners replaced; nut and saddle replaced; typical Martin pickguard crack repaired; bridge pin holes on the bridge plate repaired; marks in the neck block area where a pickup battery appears to have been mounted; endpin strap hole enlarged; strap pin added at the neck heel.

[Playing Condition]
No choking or buzzing; playing condition is good. Action at the 12th fret: 2.6mm low E side, 2.1mm high E side. Saddle protrusion approximately 2.0-2.5mm.
