Martin 1961 D-28 with Brazilian rosewood back and sides: the legendary tonewood's voice combined with real-world playability, without the astronomical prices of prewar or 1950s examples.
Back and sides are top-grade Brazilian rosewood, now banned from harvesting. The quality wood of the early '60s gives a deep yet transparent tone. More than 60 years of aging of the Sitka spruce top and Brazilian back has produced the glittering, "glass-breaking" highs Brazilian rosewood is known for, blended with deep lows, balanced from powerful strumming to delicate arpeggios.
The non-scalloped X-bracing typical of postwar Martins gives a sturdy build, highly regarded by professionals as a tough working guitar. It can be played hard as a main instrument for live and recording work without the excessive delicacy of older vintage guitars. Brazilian rosewood Martins through the 1960s have fully established themselves as true vintage, and prices are rising rapidly worldwide; good, gig-ready 1961 D-28s are becoming hard to find.

Crack repair at the upper left of the top; finish wear on the right side (waist); signs of a previous neck reset; bridge replaced; bridge plate string holes reinforced; saddle replaced with an ivory saddle; overlacquer on the neck and headstock (including sides), excluding the fingerboard; strap pin added at the neck heel.
[Playing Condition]
No choking or buzzing; playing condition is good. Action at the 12th fret: 2.7mm low E side, 2.1mm high E side. Saddle protrusion approximately 2.0mm.
