Larrivee is known for ornate inlay work and woodworking skill that has influenced luthiers worldwide, but this model takes a refreshingly understated approach, relying purely on the quality of the woods and the beauty of the build, like finely crafted Scandinavian furniture.
The top is evenly grained Sitka spruce, with quality rosewood back and sides and an ebony fingerboard and bridge. Maple wood binding (not plastic) runs around the body, and the rosette and top purfling feature a marquetry-like rope pattern applied by hand. Not flashy, but a lasting beauty that reflects the maker's sincere craftsmanship.
The OM (Orchestra Model) shape is a size smaller than a dreadnought with a deeper waist, fitting comfortably against the body and easy on the shoulder and back during long sessions. A very thin satin finish from the back of the neck across the whole body lets you feel the wood directly and keeps your fretting hand moving smoothly even when sweating. The thin finish also doesn't hinder wood vibration, releasing an open, dry resonance.
Trebles have a focused shimmer from the spruce and rosewood, and even a light fingerstyle touch stays clearly defined. Excellent note separation keeps layered arpeggios from getting muddy, producing beautiful gradations in chords. A guitar with lifelong quality, built purely for great tone and playability.
