A Kramer "The Duke" from the 1980s has arrived in stock
Starting in the late 1970s, guitar builders began experimenting with materials other than wood, and this trend gradually gained momentum.
Kramer was one such company. While the brand is best known for its metal-oriented models from the mid-1980s,
its early models featured innovative designs, such as guitars with aluminum necks.
The model we’ve just received, named “The Duke,” was produced between 1981 and 1983. It features a wooden body (likely maple) with a bolt-on aluminum neck, and the fingerboard is made of a resin called Eponol, which eliminates the effects of external air on the wood
Its distinctive body shape features a minimalist design, and even the tuning machines are mounted on the underside of the body—
making this a truly innovative model.
Externally, while there is some wear typical of its age, it is in generally good condition for a guitar that is over 40 years old.
The strap pins and control knobs have been replaced. Additionally, due to the nature of the aluminum neck,
the neck has a slight forward bow.
