A rare moment where Hollywood legend and wartime history intersect.

This is a true "museum piece" of a guitar, carrying a documented history that's genuinely once-in-a-lifetime: a 1944 Martin D-18 owned and played by the late Peter Fonda, an icon of American counterculture and the star who electrified the world in Easy Rider.

The guitar's own historical significance is just as remarkable. 1944 falls during a critical period when, due to severe wartime metal shortages, an ebony rod was used for neck reinforcement instead of the usual steel T-bar. It's also from the tail end of the era when scalloped X-bracing was used, before the shift to non-scalloped bracing later that same year. The result, built from fully seasoned premium mahogany and Adirondack spruce combined with the lighter weight of the ebony rod construction, is an astonishingly light guitar with a huge, dry, thick "vintage mahogany sound" that fills the room.

The tone shaped by a legendary Hollywood star's fingertips remains completely undiminished today, carrying a nostalgic resonance that evokes the dry American landscape. Carefully set up for excellent playability, this is a guitar that performs at its highest potential not only as a collector's piece but as a genuinely playable instrument delivering top-tier vintage tone.

As this is a used/vintage instrument, the following notes reflect what we could confirm during our own inspection. Thank you for your understanding.
- Previously had a neck reset and refret, and plays beautifully as a result.
- A small Martin-style crack on the lower right of the pickguard.
- Frets and saddle have been replaced.
- Some overspray near the neck joint.

Action at the 12th fret: 2.5mm (low E side), 2.0mm (high E side)
Saddle protrusion: approx. 2-3mm
No buzzing or dead notes; plays well overall.
