Koawood body and neck; label: ”REGISTERED TRADE MARK /SHAEFFER'S HARP TONE / UKULELES/ GENUINE / KOA-WOOD/ Workmanship and Material / Guaranteed for one / year CHICAGO/TESTED FOR TONE” (with a handwritten date Feb. 27, 1920; marquetry trim on center line of fingerboard and around top,back,and sound hole; friction pegs; ebony nut and bridge; end wedge; circa mid-1920s.

1920年代にシカゴで生産されたシェフェールのソプラノウクレレ。
メーカーの記録はあまり残っていないそうですが、当時のLyon & Healy から楽器教材を出版するなど、シカゴではかなり有名な楽器講師が個人的なルシアーに製作させていたとされる楽器です。
アメリカ本土の楽器としては珍しくサイズやインレイ、パフリングワーク等がハワイアンスタイルであり、かなりグレードの高いカーリーコアが用いられています。

Tony Ku Collection 143ページに掲載された楽器です。
