A rare Pawn Shop Bass VI!
The BASS VI (Bass Six) was released by Fender in 1961.
It features a short 30-inch scale length and is tuned one octave lower than an electric guitar. It features a Jaguar/Jazzmaster-style tremolo and was intended for use as a baritone guitar.
It has been used by renowned players such as George Harrison and John Lennon of The Beatles, and Jack Bruce of Cream.
This Bass VI, manufactured in 2013, is part of the Pawn Shop series, a lineup of experimental models.
In keeping with the Pawn Shop series' concept of "guitars and basses that seem like they should have existed, but didn't," unlike the original Bass VI, it features a JZHB humbucking bridge pickup. The controls have also been changed, with a 1Vol/1Tone control and a 5-way pickup selector.
It has the tension unique to a short scale, allowing for ample low-end resonance.
It can be used with either a bass amp or a guitar amp, and you can play bass lines, play chords with the low-cut switch on, or play solos in the high positions without the low-cut. It can express nuances that cannot be produced with either a bass or guitar.
It's an instrument that inspires you to imagine all kinds of possibilities.
