Marin Nejime (b. 1986) is a Japanese luthier and son of Kojiro Nejime (Alberto Nejime Oono). After developing an early interest in music and craftsmanship, he committed to guitar making following his graduation in 2009.

He later studied in Granada under Antonio Marín Montero, adopting traditional Spanish methods while developing a fresh and highly individual tonal approach. His instruments are known for their precision, refined finishing, and distinctive character, with each guitar offering a unique voice.

His work has gained international recognition, including an award at the Granada Guitar Making Competition in 2017. Producing only a small number of instruments each year, his guitars are increasingly sought after.

Marin Nejime, “Casa Enrique” (Original Model), 2026 – New

A newly arrived original model by Marin Nejime, part of his recent series inspired by places in Granada. “Casa Enrique” is named after a bar in the city, reflecting a personal memory from his time studying under Antonio Marín Montero—making this instrument a subtle homage to his teacher and the Granada tradition.

The construction is based on a Bouchet-influenced design as interpreted by Antonio Marín, featuring a 5-fan bracing system combined with a transverse bar beneath the bridge. This structure allows for a controlled yet highly responsive top, with resonance set slightly below G#.

Tonally, the guitar presents a refined and highly focused voice. The sound is clear, dense, and well-defined, with excellent sustain and depth. Compared to typical Granada instruments, it offers greater solidity and presence in each note rather than a lighter, more diffused projection. The attack is clean and immediate, with a firm tactile response that rewards precise right-hand control. Balance across the register is excellent, with strong note separation, cohesive chordal structure, and a bright, singing quality in arpeggios.

Visually, the contrast between the spruce top and the rich reddish cocobolo back and sides is striking. The rosette and head design are elegant and understated, and the overall finish—executed in fine French polish—demonstrates a high level of craftsmanship throughout.

The neck has a comfortable, standard D profile. Setup is excellent, with string height at 2.3 mm (1st string) and 3.7 mm (6th string) at the 12th fret, and sufficient saddle height remaining. Fitted with Gotoh lyre-style tuners. Total weight is 1.69 kg.

A highly refined and expressive instrument, showcasing Nejime’s mature interpretation of the Granada tradition.
