Felipe Conde Crespo (b. 1991, Madrid, Spain) is a fourth-generation luthier of the prestigious Conde family, one of the most influential names in flamenco guitar making. He works from his own workshop in Madrid, continuing a lineage that traces back to Domingo Esteso (1882–1937).

The Conde Hermanos name gained worldwide recognition in the mid-20th century, notably through players such as Paco de Lucía. In 2010, the family tradition evolved into independent brands led by Felipe Conde Cavia and Mariano Conde Cavia.

Crespo trained under his father from 2007 and established his own workshop in 2022, producing high-end flamenco and classical guitars entirely by hand. His work blends deep respect for tradition with a refined, modern sensibility.

[Instrument Information]
This is a 2025 Felipe Conde Crespo flamenco negra, No.91 (used), with a 664 mm scale, featuring a spruce top and Madagascar rosewood back and sides.

While inspired by Conde guitars from the 1970s, this instrument presents a more restrained tonal character, combining calm elegance with remarkable speed and sharp responsiveness—distinctly modern in its expression. The sound offers strong projection with a natural sense of separation, alongside the depth and richness characteristic of a negra. Bright trebles and powerful, textured basses are well balanced, delivering a highly expressive Spanish voice.

The top follows a traditional Spanish bracing pattern with seven fan struts and closing bars, contributing to its quick attack and dynamic range. The resonance is set slightly below F#.

Condition is excellent, as expected from a recent instrument. Minor superficial playing marks are present on the top and back, with light wear on the neck, but overall it retains a fresh, well-preserved appearance. Playability is excellent, with a low action setup (2.1 mm / 2.3 mm at the 12th fret). The guitar is finished in shellac and fitted with Fustero tuners. Weight is 1.54 kg.
