【Profile】
Teruaki Nakade (b. 1931) is one of the important figures in the history of Japanese classical guitar making. The eldest son of renowned luthier Sakuzo Nakade (1906–1993), he learned traditional guitar-making techniques and woodworking skills in his father's workshop from an early age.

He later traveled to Spain and trained at the Madrid workshop of the celebrated makers Hernández y Aguado, where he studied traditional Spanish guitar construction. After returning to Japan, he established his own workshop, combining the meticulous craftsmanship he inherited from his father with the Spanish techniques and tonal concepts he learned in Madrid.

His instruments are known for their refined appearance, careful workmanship, and delicate yet well-balanced tone. Together with his brothers Toshihiko Nakade (b. 1932) and Yukio Nakade, Teruaki played an important role in the development of Spanish-style handmade classical guitars in Japan. His instruments are now regarded as representative examples of Japanese vintage guitars.

【Instrument Information】
Teruaki Nakade Model 600, 1971 — Used

This guitar was made shortly after Teruaki Nakade established himself independently, following his training under his father, Sakuzo Nakade, and at the Hernández y Aguado workshop in Spain.

The guitar has been well played and shows various signs of age and use, including playing marks, dents, friction marks, and finish weather checking. There is no record of major repairs, cracks, or modifications.

The neck remains in good playing condition. Some fret wear is visible on frets 1–8, particularly frets 1–5, but it does not affect playability.
