Akira Ozu is one of Japan’s leading classical guitar makers. Based on traditional Spanish guitar-making techniques, he combines Japanese sensibility with modern principles of acoustic theory. His instruments are highly regarded by a wide range of players, from professional musicians to dedicated enthusiasts, thanks to his meticulous craftsmanship and deep pursuit of tonal excellence.

[Instrument Information]

This guitar was made in 2017 and has a 650 mm scale length.

It features a light, bright, and well-defined tone, with an exceptionally responsive character. The notes speak quickly, allowing the player’s intentions to be conveyed clearly and naturally through the sound. While the overall volume is moderate, the instrument offers excellent responsiveness, good sustain, and a very well-balanced tonal character. It is an outstanding example of Akira Ozu’s distinctive approach, combining a lively response with a rich and nuanced tonal palette.

The guitar has a French polish (shellac) finish and is fitted with Gotoh tuning machines. The neck has a slightly slim profile and is straight, while the frets show virtually no signs of wear. The action is set at 2.8 mm on the 1st string and 3.7 mm on the 6th string. The string tension feels relatively soft, with a wide range of tonal expression available through touch, making the guitar particularly comfortable and easy to play.

Approximately seven years have passed since the guitar was made. It is in average used condition, with a number of small marks and scratches on the soundboard consistent with playing wear. There are some noticeable scratches on the back, but there is no history of cracks or crack repairs, and the finish remains in good condition. These cosmetic signs of use do not affect playability, and the instrument remains fully suitable for performance. A guitar case is included.
