This model by F.lli Lodi. is becoming more popular now that Marcin Dylla, one of the most outstanding classical guitar players of the younger generation, is known to be using their guitar.
Since this instrument was made in 2010, one can speculate that it was made by Maurizio and his son Gabriel Lodi.
Because Dylla has been using their modern type guitar, it became one of the hard-to-purchase guitar brand nowadays. But their brand’s origin started with Spanish traditional guitars, with luthier Lodi attempting to recall Spanish historical classical guitars such as Torres models and D. Esteso models.
This particular instrument by Lodi does have a resemblance of Spanish historical classical guitars, with wide range of dynamics, yet does not carry that of popular Esteso models. Rather, it has much more well rounded, delicate sound that can be only heard in a very rare, premium Esteso models, which I assume Lodi tried to capture.
The tone is full of old traditional Spanish guitar, with a firm, masculine sound.
Made by genuine Jacaranda, overall condition is in excellent shape.
Liuteria Lodi was established in 1970 by brothers Leandro and Maurizio Lodi at Carpi near Modena in Italy. In 1975 they took the opportunity to learn with Alan Stewart Wilcox, a well known guitar maker near Florence. Through the 1980s and 1990s they made classical guitars based on the Ramirez III model. When Leandro left the workshop to concentrate on restoration work, his place was filled by Gabriele Lodi the son of Maurizio.
