RARE! Very early G String model in near-mint condition!
Product Description
This early G String ukulele is nearly perfect condition,
and has an inside wood label indicating that it was made in
Honolulu, Hawaii, so perhaps even before Derek Shimizu
hired his luthiers and built a factory in Halawa valley.
A very rare find for anyone interested in G String history.
Beautiful brown, orange, and gold striped premium koa beautiful curly grain.
Currently strung with doubled first strings (unison) second strings (unison)
third strings (octave) and fourth strings (octave.)
(Other tuning patterns are possible... research and experiment!)
Doubled strings give this uke a unique rich resonance like a 12-string guitar.
Perfect for strumming and hula accompaniment,
but with a bit of practice, you can also play melody or solo play.
It's not much different to playing a 4-string tenor once you get used to it.
Rosewood fret-board and bridge, with a 14-fret neck joint.
Tusq nut and saddle. Mahogany neck and head-stock with koa overlay.
Colorful paua shell inlay G String "fishhook" heads-tock logo.
Vintage-style wood inlay rope rosette around the sound-hole.
Beautifully finished antique-style in-line gear pegs with ivory colored buttons.
A very special instrument and a piece of Hawaiian history.
