A very clean and good condition vintage SG. Gibson SG STANDARD made in 1965 featuring a small guard.
In 1961, the specifications were changed from the previous single cutaway Les Paul model to a Les Paul model with a deep double cutaway with sharp corners and a thin mahogany one-piece body. Then, around 1963, Gibson changed the name of the double cutaway model to SG (short for solid guitar) due to the termination of the contract with Les Paul. After that, the single cutaway Les Paul was revived, but the SG remained and is a long-selling guitar that is still on sale today. It is one of the masterpieces created by Gibson, which has captivated many musicians such as Pete Townshend, Angus Young, Tony Iommi, George Harrison, and Eric Clapton.
This 1965 SG Standard is equipped with a small pickguard and small head, which was the specification until around 1967, a mahogany one-piece neck, which was the specification until around 1969, a strong neck joint that integrated the back of the body with the neck, which was the specification from around 1963 to around 1967, a numbered PAF pickup, and an original Maestro vibrato unit.
The sound produced by the vintage humbucking is characterized by its glossiness and rich harmonic structure compared to regular humbucking. The thin and slender neck makes it easy to play, and the body has a much stronger sound from being played in real life, making this a guitar that produces a rich vintage SG sound. It is also very beautiful to look at, and it is an SG that will make you excited even if you just display it.
