This is an early 1970s Dallas-Arbiter, England Fuzz Face! This is a defective item.
This particular unit is manufactured by Dallas-Arbiter, England, and dates back to the early 1970s. It has ample gain, and as you turn up the Fuzz control, it transitions dramatically from a crisp, thick boost/overdrive range to a powerful, sustained distortion with added harmonics, and even a pulsating fuzz sound with a flattened attack. Turning down the guitar volume also produces a bright, clean sound, another beloved feature of this model. The silicon transistor Fuzz Face can be used in a wide range of applications, from boosting to a more aggressively driven sound. Compared to germanium transistors, which are susceptible to temperature and humidity, silicon transistors offer a stable sound with peace of mind. It features a BC108C silicon transistor, and the other transistor (credited as BC108) appears to have been replaced later. The exterior is in perfect condition, and while there are some minor replacements, the rest are original parts, making this a truly authentic instrument. The sound is characteristic of a fuzz, with a powerful, moderately gated feel.
*Includes one BC108 transistor, two potentiometers, a footswitch, a battery snap replacement, and repaired solder patterns.
*For some reason, turning the guitar volume all the way down with the effect on may cause oscillation, but we will be selling it as is.
