This is the Italian-made Model V828 (Black)!!
This Italian-made tone bender from the early 1970s features a black case and is made with transistors, capacitors, resistors, etc. It produces a refreshingly bold fuzz/overdrive tone. Originally, VOX Tone Benders featured sharp, clear highs, but from the V828 onwards, many units tended to have a weaker, more crisp low end, for better or worse. This unit's crisp, fuzzy attack, grainy distortion, and tight, firm low end create a sonic image that doesn't get lost in the intensity. The bright clean sound produced when the guitar volume is turned down is also excellent. The back cover has a similar design to wahs of the same era. It's equipped with the same SFT337 and SFT363 transistors as the gray case model, giving this unit a more treble-heavy sound.
