サウンド、プレイアビリティ、ルックスの最高峰である、ギブソン・カスタムは、伝統的工程と最新技術の融合、そして卓越したクラフツマンシップにより、歴史を継承する製品と、新たな時代に向けた革新的な製品を生み出しています。
1958年の夏、レスポールは、それまでのゴールド・フィ二ッシュから2ピース・メイプル材の杢を活かしたサンバースト・カラーへの仕様変更が発表され、ついに最終形へと到達し、その後2年半に及び生産が続きました。
カスタムショップ製1958レスポール・リイシューは、1959よりはやや太めのネックとナロー・フレットを擁し、ヴィンテージのトーンとフィーリングを再現しています。
1958年当時のヴィンテージのファクトリー出荷時のチェリー・サンバーストは、後年、経時変化による褪色、変色により個体ごとの個性豊かなバリエーションが生まれたため、リィシューでは代表的な4パターンのサンバースト・カラーを用意しました。プレーン・メイプル材や角度によって杢目が現れる硬質なライト・フィギュアド・メイプル材による主張しすぎないルックスは、多くのプロミュージシャンを虜にし続けています。
