This BOSS SD-1 was manufactured circa 1983 and is equipped with a JRC4558DD op-amp!
It employs the asymmetrical overdrive circuit inherited from the OD-1, and is equipped with a new tone control that allows for high-frequency boost/cut. Minor changes to the circuit give it a slightly higher gain and a more solid feel than the OD-1. It produces sweet, mild distortion without suppressing subtle picking nuances. The op-amp used is the JRC4558DD (glossy), with other models including the NEC C4558C', which was installed very early on, and the JRC4558D, which was installed around 1982. The SD-1 was manufactured in Japan until mid-1989, after which production was moved to Taiwan.
