A Balance of Modern and Vintage! MJ2-STD
Momose, a Japanese handmade brand, combines vintage-like sound with contemporary playability. This custom, handmade bass is crafted by skilled artisans under the guidance and supervision of Yasuo Momose, one of Japan's leading guitar makers.
The MJ2-STD inherits the traditional JB style while incorporating Momose's unique refinements.
Wood materials: Ash body, slab rosewood fingerboard.
At first glance, the body shape appears to be a typical JB style, but features a larger cutaway on the first string side, improving playability in the upper register.
In addition, the sides of the fingerboard are bound with the same rosewood as the fingerboard, preventing fret burrs and supporting smooth fingering.
While maintaining its traditional look, the design considers playability and ease of maintenance, with features such as a recessed joint plate and a rod adjustment on the headstock.
What's impressive is the excellent balance from the 1st to 4th strings, with no particular range standing out from the low to high notes.
While you can feel the direct, clear sound and tightness of the ash, the slab rosewood fingerboard also gives the sound a full, sticky quality.
This is an excellent guitar that has refined the vintage style in both playability and sound!
