A 1966 Jaguar with matching heads from the bind-dot era!
In the 1950s, Fender released the Jazzmaster in 1958 to break into the jazz field dominated by Gibson and Epiphone. In the end, it wasn't successful in attracting conservative jazz guitarists, but in the early 1960s it became popular among surf music guitarists. The Jaguar was a new model aimed at such surf music guitarists. As with the Stratocaster, the Jaguar was developed with the musicians' opinions in mind, and actively incorporated the requests of surf music guitarists who said, "The neck scale is too long" and "I want a brighter sound." While inheriting the Jazzmaster's offset contour body, front preset tone, and floating tremolo unit, the neck scale was changed from the Jazzmaster's 25 1/2 inches to 24 inches, a yoke (metal cover) was attached to the pickup, and a low-cut switch was added in addition to the pickup selector, allowing for a high-output, bright tone. The Jaguar, packed with Fender's technology as described above, was released as Fender's top-of-the-line model. After that, with the popularity of alternative/grunge in the 1990s, various artists used the Jaguar, and although it was not the style originally intended, it further established its popularity. At the end of 1965, banding was wrapped around the side of the fingerboard, and the specifications were changed to block position marks in the middle of 1966, so the period when the dot position marks were on the side binding of the fingerboard was very short, and it is a popular specification. Various artists such as Kurt Cobain of Nirvana and John Frusciante of Red Hot Chili Peppers used this model from this period, making it a popular specification, including its rarity. It has the punchy attack of a Jaguar, but also has a solid thickness in the low mids, making for a comfortable sound. Although there are many replaced parts, it has been refretted and is a vintage Jaguar that can be used for a long time!
