A bold distortion with an edge. Equipped with a Motorola LM308N op-amp. This is a RAT II made in 1987!
As you turn up the DISTORTION control, the lows increase and it becomes heavier, the distortion becomes saturated and the attack becomes crushed. This fat and rough distortion is what characterizes the RAT. The RAT II uses fluorescent paint on the controller and is equipped with an LED indicator. This unit, which is equipped with a Motorola LM308N op-amp, has stronger lows and a fuzz-like roughness compared to the National Semiconductor LM308N model from the same period. In fact, when I compared it to the current RAT II, I got the impression that the wall of distortion gradually became heavier as I turned up the DISTORTION knob. The impact of the low chords in particular was completely different.
